 - Symi Travel Guide
The Symi Music Festival began in 1995 and has continued each summer, giving the opportunity to both locals and tourist to enjoy classical and Greek music, theatrical performances, literary readings and painting exhibitions.
Performances and events are held in a number of attractive settings in Yialos and Chorio, and are free of charge.

November 8th sees the name day of the Archangel Michaelis, after whom the Monastery of Panormitis is named. This is the 'name day' of all the male Greeks called Michaelis. (Michael). A local procession takes place including the armed forces, police force and local dignitaries together with the bishop. The celebration is then followed by a feast and village dancing.
