Stone Wine Presses
During Byzantine times, wine-making was a rich resource for the Symians, who developed a high grade of mainly white wine. However, it was only a few years ago that a researcher, Sarantis Kritikos, noted more than 120 stone wine presses, in several areas all over the island. Today, 11 stone wine presses have been reconstructed, using authentic stone parts, in the Kourkouniotis area A visit to this spot, passing through beautiful cypress forest,is a unique experience.
